The opening and closing themes of The Jazz Session were written and performed by The Respect Sextet, a wonderful band that started in Rochester, NY, and is now based in NYC. Here’s a video of the band playing pianist/keyboardist/electro-wizard Red Wierenga’s tune “Illegal Use of a Baguette” at the Brooklyn Lyceum on 10.26.08 with guest bassist Eivind Opsvik:
