On his second album, Escaping Shadows (Concord, 2009), saxophonist Benny Reid continues to explore the musical path first laid down by Pat Metheny. I very much enjoyed the interview and the music, though I have to say that the Metheny influence is still very, very heavy on this young man’s music. That isn’t meant as an insult, as I feel there is stillplenty of talent and personality that shines through. Nice stuff.
